San Sebastian is 'Donostia' in Basque. The city derives its Basque name from its shell shaped bay.

Above photo - Our visit to San Sebastian was in October but the weather was good. The warm day brought many to the beach to enjoy the sun and take a dip in the water. |
It was British royalty, and then their Spanish cousins, that established San Sebastian as a resort destination in the 1800's but today it caters to all those's seeking sun, food and fashion.
Eating in San Sebastian is a gastronomy delight. The natives of San Sebastian take their food very seriously, with the majority of citizens belonging to social clubs centering around food preparation.
