In the summer of 2001 my family stayed at the Green Prado hotel (Calle Prado 11, 28014 Madrid). The following is a summary of our impressions of this fine establishment.
The Green Prado has a lot to offer a family visiting Madrid: location, internet access, clean rooms, modern facilities, pleasant English- speaking clerks, and air-conditioning. And, one of the most precious commodities a hotel can offer a weary traveler, a quiet night's sleep!

To appreciate Madrid, a person traveling from overseas needs a good night's sleep. In Madrid a quiet sleep is hard to come by since sounds of late night street partying and road traffic (often until 5 A.M.) have a way of penetrating even interior rooms of many hotels. This is particularly a problem for hotels in the central city of Madrid, where the Hotel Green is located.

My family's room was located on an exterior wall on the third floor and we still had the most restful slumber of all our nights in Spain.

My wife sends e-mail to our family in Michigan while I take a photo of the lobby (see photo on right).

A hotel cafe, not shown in this photo, is located to the left. The elevator can be found at the end of the hall.

The rooms in the Prado Green are of a decent size. In the photo above you can see there was room enought to add a third bed.

A very clean and funtional bathroom.
The beds were comfortable and our room was clean, with no sign of wear on it or any of its fixtures.

All in all, my family was very happy with our stay at the Green Prado. The hotel only has 50 rooms, so if you plan to reserve one for your stay, do it early to assure availabilty.

Online booking of the Green Prado can be done through TravelNow. It is also possible to book it through Madrid and Beyond as part of your total (hotel) vacation package.
