Across from the Roman Theater is the Calle Jose Ramon Melida. The Arte Romano Museum is found on the north side of the street; on the south side you will find the Meson Extremeno. If you arrive early, this bar is a good place to get a breakfast snack and a cup of coffee while you wait for the attractions to open. Continuing further down the street (to the west) you will find artisians making pottery and carving statuary out of marble.

The staff at the Meson Extremeno doesn't speak English but were very patient with me and tried hard to understand my limited Spanish.

The Meson Extremeno is typical of the bars you will find in Spain. For some other places to eat, look around and to the north of the Plaza de Espana.

At the Terracota,
original pottery is offered along with commercially produced ceramics and reproductions of early Roman pieces.

The owner is very friendly and will pack your purchase in bubble wrap for the plane ride home.

Above can be seen copies of orginal Roman theater masks.
