When completed in
1755, the plaza was ready for its first bullfight.
Today, other than the occasional fiesta,
scurrying tourists are about the most active
animals to be found in the plaza.

The plaza’s construction was ordered
by Felipe V. The Churriguera brothers
prepared the designs for the plaza, using
sandstone as the primary building
material. Bullfighting continued in the
plaza until the mid-1800's AD. |

Taking a stroll around the
plaza, the visitor can actually
discover city offices among the
cafes and shops that line the
plaza’s lower floor.
