| I took the above photograph of the Aquaduct facing the southeast. If you take the stairs shown in the photo (far end of aquaduct), you can follow the aqueduct until it becomes a solid wall. If you take the stairs on the northwest, you end up on a small rampart that overlooks the aqueduct (the place from which this photo was taken). |

Aqueducts are impressive structures. The Romans made them out of large blocks, and this one still stands relatively straight after 2000 years. |

To the left is a detail of one of the aqueduct's footing. Notice the slight shift in the second layer of block and how the first layer was just laid on an existing, native rock. |

Note how the Romans notched the block directly under the triangular block at center. |
