Valencia's Central Market (Mercado Central) is one of the most extensive food markets I have ever been in, having 1,300 stalls.

Above photo - The building dates back to 1916/26, it is done in the Spanish Modernism style, during my visit it was undergoing an extensive sprucing up.
I suspect you can tell the important's of food to a people by the quality of their fresh food market. |
